Eddie Test & Print Start Guide

Thank you for your purchase of the Test & Print Manual Tray for the Eddie food printer! Here are some helpful tips to get started using this tray.

  • Enable ‘Manual Feed Mode’ on the Eddie (AKA unplug the carousel). Primera guide on using manual mode here
  • Suggested printer settings:
    • Centering Scan Disabled/Unchecked
    • Start with ‘Cookie lift’ at 0 & adjust up or down from there depending on the depth/height of the cookie
      • For example, my cookies are cut 1/4″ thick & after icing, I will set the lift to 10. With my macarons, I will start the cookie lift at -25 since the height is generally higher than sugar cookies.
      • If the cartridge makes contact with the cookie, adjust lift down. If the cartridge is too far down from cookie, you will notice that the print will come out lighter than expected so adjust accordingly
  • Suggested print settings:
    • For printing test onto top of tray:
      • Quality: 1 (fast print)
      • Saturation: 20-30
        • Lower saturation not only to save ink but to prevent excessive smudging
    • For printing on cookies:
      • Quality: 4
      • Saturation: 70-85
  • Set tray onto tongue only AFTER calibration complete
    • The Eddie will re-calibrate itself when you send a print through (after a certain period of time of inactivity). Once you click on the print button on your device, wait until the printer re-calibrates and then place tray onto tongue when the two blue lights (on top of printer) are blinking. Once the tray is positioned onto the tongue, press the Load/Unload button on printer to initiate the print.
  • Use of silicone mat
    • Movement/shifting of the cookie can happen when the printer is moving & positioning the tray while printing. The silicone mat provided is meant to be used to prevent shifting & mis-alignment of the print. After you test print onto the tray, place the transparent silicone mat over the test print & then place/align the cookie on top of it before printing on the cookie.
  • Cleaning & care
    • Hand wash only. The tray is made of thermoplastic filament which softens/melts with high heat. Therefore, washing the tray in the dishwasher will warp the tray making it unusable.
    • When you’re ready to clear the test print, simply run the tray under running water & wipe dry before re-use.
    • The silicone mat will get inked over time. The ink can also be rinsed under water for a quick refresh.
